We’re big fans of good meatloaf, and so are our dogs Jordan and Gertrude. We adjusted a basic lean meat meatloaf recipe, adding different grains and vegetables for variety. Our dogs loved garlic, so we always added it, finely chopped; If you are concerned about feeding it to your dog, it can easily be left out.

Instead of oatmeal, you can try other whole grain products like brown rice or quinoa. Flaxseed flour is a great substitute for breadcrumbs. Consider adding some supplements to go with this meatloaf, including powdered calcium, nori (seaweed), chopped pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds.
Freeze some of these meatloafs at the same time and use different flavors for variety. Use beef, ground turkey, chicken, or lamb, but avoid pork or veal, which can be too fatty.
